So how’s everyone’s fantasy team doing? Are you confident like the dominating Green Bay Packers or feeling a little lost like the unfortunate Minnesota Vikings? If it’s the latter…well maybe you’re not paying close enough attention to my injury updates! Then again my team is 1-3. Yeesh.
Here are the injury updates for Week 5 of the fantasy football season.
AFC North Injury Updates
The Pittsburgh Steelers have two big injuries on their hands for this week. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger injured his foot last week, but he practiced on Thursday and is expected to play in Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans. However, it is a different story for running back Rashard Mendenhall. Mendenhall, who injured his hamstring last week, did not practice on Thursday.
AFC South Injury Updates
Ben Tate, running back for the Houston Texans, missed practice on Thursday due a groin issue. It seems unlikely that he will appear in Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders. But it only gets worse for the Texans. Wide receiver, Andre Johnson, is out for at least three weeks after suffering from a hamstring strain.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Kerry Collins was not cleared to practice on Wednesday. Collins is still suffering from concussion like symptoms after week 3’s game. It expected that Curtis Painter will play on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
AFC East Injury Updates
Buffalo Bills running back, C.J. Spiller did not practice on Wednesday and was limited at practice on Thursday due to a minor knee injury. However, he’s still second in line on the depth chart after Fred Jackson.
The Miami Dolphins lost quarterback Chad Henne to a shoulder injury during Sunday’s game. Henne has opted to have surgery on his shoulder that will sideline him for the remainder of the season. Luckily the Dolphins have a bye during week 5 allowing them to figure this situation out. Matt Moore will most likely be the starter.
Tight end Aaron Hernandez, New England Patriots, returned to practice on Thursday but didn’t participate 100 percent.
AFC West Injury Updates
Vincent Jackson, wide receiver for the San Diego Chargers, sat out of practice again on Thursday due to a hamstring strain. Tight end Antonio Gates also missed practice. The Chargers are hoping to see Jackson play on Sunday, but it doesn’t look quite as promising for Gates.
NFC North Injury Reports
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver returned to practice on Thursday after suffering from a bruised shin and nerve trauma on Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos. The Packers have expected Driver to return since Monday, and he looks to be good to go for week 5’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. Ryan Grant, running back, practiced with the team on Wednesday and is ready to play on Sunday.
Antoine Winfield, cornerback for the Minnesota Vikings, will most likely miss Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals after suffering from a neck injury. Winfield is a crucial part to the Vikings defense and could have detrimental effects on the week 5 game.
NFC South Injury Reports
New Orleans Saints’ wide receiver Marques Colston is back in full health. After suffering from a collar bone injury week 1, Colston was able to return last Sunday. However, he was limited in the amount of snaps. Now, he’s ready for the full game.
NFC East Injury Reports
Running back Brandon Jacobs of the New York Giants missed his second straight practice because of a knee injury. His status for Sunday’s seems to be undecided.
NFC West Injury Reports
Danny Amendola, wide receiver for the St. Louis Rams, is out for the rest of the season after deciding to have surgery on his torn triceps. His expected recovery time is four months.
